Why Choose TRIPLE 'A' FLYING?

EASTERN AIRWAYS PILOT TRAINING SCHEME

Due to recent high level personnel changes at the Airline and a fundamental change to the recruitment policy for First Officers – a minimum of 1000 hours total time, in essence, is now required – the Training Scheme has been discontinued as it only catered for PPL(A) pilots with around 150-300 hours.

However Triple ‘A’ Flying have been retained by Eastern to recommend those students we determine are particularly worthy which may extend to those with considerably less than 1000 hours total time.  In this regard, within the last two years or so, eight ex-students have joined the Airline.  This now brings the total of ex-Triple ‘A’ studentS to have flown for Eastern to around twenty five, including three who are now Training Captains.

EASTERN AIRWAYS CURRENTLY OPERATE 23 X JETSTREAM J41 (29 SEAT TURBOPROP), AND  6 X SAAB 2000 (50 SEAT TURBOPROP) AIRCRAFT AND ARE CONTINUING TO EXPAND, FLYING SCHEDULED SERVICES TO  20 UK AND CONTINENTAL DESTINATIONS

ALSO:

It is essential to have a detailed knowledge, from the earliest stages of flying training, of the main criteria governing flight standards, requirements and disciplines as applying to ab initio (PPL(A) through to JAA “frozen” ATPL(A). It is also vital to have a sound knowledge of and practical capability of applying basic aerodynamics, aviation law and raw data VFR navigation techniques.  The more that basic skill standards and background knowledge can be had regard to during PPL(A) training and building up hours, before commencing commercial flight training, the better.

This will undoubtedly help considerably in reducing the likelihood of exceeding minimum course hours in order to meet basic Skill Test standards, incurring significant financial penalties in the process. To deal with this problem some schools in the UK, of practical necessity, have now introduced for students a Pre CPL(A) Preparation Flight Course of 10 or even up to 20 hours as necessary, prior to their commencing the actual JAA CPL(A) Course.

Fortunately it is quite easy to avoid this situation if, at the outset of basic training -  when obtaining the PPL(A) or when building up hours - a detailed knowledge of JAA requirements is obtained coupled with a substantial revision of basic background (flying) knowledge. Triple ”A” would be more than pleased to assist in this area, with no obligation to train with ourselves, as we are very keen to get this message across in the general interest of potential professional pilots and the aviation industry at large. For example we can provide you with pertinent exercise profiles to follow when building up hours.

When having regard to the marked competition for airline jobs, although there are signs of some improvement recently, then simply holding a “frozen” ATPL is not a guarantee of a job or even a pass on a simulator assessment for one. The reality is that to even have a reasonable chance in a difficult market dictates that the highest of standards must be achieved in training.  This has been reflected in the high success rate of our students obtaining airline jobs.

Other recently attending students, with low total hours, obtained jobs with airlines such as; Excel Airways, Loganair, Eastern Airways, VLM Airlines, Euro 2000, EUJet, Flightline, BMI Baby, Dragonair, Ryanair, Thomson Fly, My Travel, Air Malta, Jet2, Aurigny, Aer Lingus and Netjets. Three of our ex-students attending here within the last five years or so are now Training Captains with Eastern Airways. For information on the employment of other students see the NEWS Section of this Website.
